KARACHI: Sindh Police Inspector General A.D. Khawaja said on Thursday that there has been a decrease of 28.5% in terrorism related incidents in the province when compared to the previous year.
The IG was talking to a delegation – comprising 39 Assistant Superintend of Police (ASP) of the 43rd specialised training programme of the Police Academy Islamabad – who met with him at the Central Police Office.
Khawaja further informed that during the period there has been a decline of 34.2 in cases of extortion (Bhatta), 9.6% decline in kidnapping for ransom, 79.3% decrease in target killing besides a 31.1% decline in incidents of murders and 21.5% decline in thefts. He said that owing to continued drive of the Sindh Police, the percentage of crimes gone down by 19.5%.
The inspector general went on and said that under the Sindh Recruitment Board, the recruitment in the provincial police is being carried out purely on the basis of merit as well as promotions being granted on seniority.
He was also of the view that in accordance with demands required by the prevailing situations, importance has been accorded to training for investigation with a special focus on geo-fencing and geo-tagging techniques.
