LAHORE: The Supreme Court (SC) told Pakista
n Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Jahangir Tareen’s counsel during a court hearing on Wednesday that even leased land should be declared in election forms.
A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice (CJ) Saqib Nisar, heard the petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi seeking the disqualification of Tareen along with PTI Chief Imra
n Khan over various allegations including the non-disclosure of assets.
Advocate Sikander Mohmand, Tareen’s lawyer, told the SC that the land owned by his client was declared on election forms, adding that ther
e was no space
mentioned for leased land in the forms.
CJ Nisar replied that leased and owned land both come under the same category.
During the hearing, Tareen’s counsel Sikander told the court that the land was acquired by his client on contract in 2010.
The apex court’s bench then ordered Sikander
to submit the details about the real owner of the land.
The court was then adjourned until Thursday.
