KARACHI: Pak Army will assist the National Census 2017 in coordination with the Karachi Administration, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) officials have revealed .
The Karachi Administration has completed its home work for the Sixth National Census 2
017, which will start from March 15th across the country. Earlier national census’ have been conducted in 1951, 1961, 1972, 1981 and the last one in 1998.
In this connection, 48 areas in city have been selected by the District Administration Karachi for stationing the troops during the 90-day census process. The sites where the Army will be provided accommodation and other facilities included eight points in south, five in Korangi, nine in West, six in Central, five in East and 15 in Malir District.
The forces will be responsible for transportation of census materials from issuance to its collection by CDO’s, charge superintendent, circle supervisor, enumerators and blocks.
The Census 2017 is a national task and in this connection the division and dist
rict administrations of Karachi are strictly adhering to the timeline fixed by PBS.

The training of 68 master trainers has been completed while training of education department staff would be completed by March 4, he added. All coordination committees set up for the purpose shall act as vigilance committees in their respective jurisdiction in Karachi.
