LAHORE: The Punjab government will provide Linear Accelerator Machine worth Rs 250 million to the Institute of Nuclear Medicine & Oncology, Lahore (INMOL hospital) for the treatment of cancer patients on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
It was disclosed by the Advisor on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique while chairing a meeting to review the arrangements for early provision of the machine at Civil Secretariat held on Saturday. He directed the officials and firm representative to complete formalities on fast track for delivery of the machine at the earliest.
He said provision of costly medical equipment to a Federal Medical Institute reflects that Shehbaz Sharif believes in serving the ailing humanity without any discrimination and provision of latest health facilities to the people is a mission of his government.
Special Secretary Health Dr Sajid Chohan said that the Linear Accelerator Machine used in Beam Radiation treatment of cancer patients. INMOL Director Dr Abu Bakar thanked the chief minister for providing such a costly machine for the patients and said the treatment facilities for cancer patients would not only be further enhanced but a long waiting list of the patients for their treatment would also be minimised due to availability of the machine.
Director General Health Punjab Dr Mukhtar Hussain Syed, Procurement Specialist Health Department Tayyab Fareed, and representative of the concerned firm also attended the meeting.
