ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif while reiterating the resolve to stamp out terrorism and extremism said that the operation Zarb-e-Azb would continue till the elimination of last terrorist.
The prime minister held a meeting with the president at President House on Friday, which lasted for one hour. The president also inquired about the health of the premier.
A range of issues including the overall political situation particularly the Panama leaks issue, ongoing development projects, operation Zarb-e-Azb, law and order situation and other matters of national importance came under discussion at the meeting. According to sources, Nawaz informed Mamnoon about the formation of a commission to probe the Panama leaks issue and the premier also took the president into confidence on the issue. The prime minister told the president about writing a letter to the chief justice to form a commission to probe the Panama leaks scandal.
The premier also informed the president that his name has not appeared in Panama papers. Despite that certain elements want to push the country into political instability. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said, “Conspiracies are afoot to divert the attention of the government from ongoing uplift projects and the operation Zarb-e-Azb”. He said that such attempts would not be allowed to succeed.
He said that the government would not budge even an inch from its economic development agenda of the country. The prime minister said, “We will materialise all development projects aimed at uplifting the living standards of the people”.
Mamnoon appreciated the endeavours made by the prime minister and his economic team to revive the national economy saying that all should join hands with the government for the sake of development and prosperity of the country.
